Guest trumpeter joins M State Jazz Band for Spring Concert

The Minnesota State Community and Technical College Jazz Band and Combo will be joined by guest trumpet player Dr. Jeremy Brekke at the band’s Spring Concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 8, in Waage Theatre on the Fergus Falls campus.

Brekke, a trumpet instructor at North Dakota State University, performs throughout the upper Midwest with the NDSU Faculty Brass Quintet, Fargo/Moorhead Symphony and Opera, Post Traumatic Funk Syndrome and various jazz groups, and he teaches at the International Music Camp.

The concert will also feature M State student vocalist Ashley Forsman of Murdock in several numbers.

Directed by M State Director of Bands Dan Carlson, the Jazz Band and Combo concert will feature an array of musical styles and performances of jazz favorites including I Remember Clifford, Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man, Puttin’ On the Ritz, Brass Machine, Count Bubba and Friend Like Me.

Tickets are $9 in advance and $11 at the door for adults and $7 in advance and $8 at the door for students.
