Ten students from the Moorhead campus of Minnesota State Community and Technical College claimed 50 Top Ten awards in the recent Business Professionals of America State Competitive Events in Alexandria.
All 10 qualified to compete in the national BPA competitive events in Orlando in May. In addition, the Moorhead chapter, coached by M State instructors Shelley Lundborg and Nancy Stigen, received a Model Chapter award.
The 10 who earned Top Ten awards are enrolled in M State’s business and accounting programs. BPA is a national organization for students preparing for careers in business and information technology.

Denise Prestegord of Glyndon placed 1st in Advanced Accounting, 10th in Payroll Accounting, 10th in Payroll, 10th in Tax, 1st in Banking, 5th in Financial Math, 4th in Personal Finance, 10th in Administrative Support, 5th in Computer Programing, 9th in Business Management, 7th in Management, Marketing, and Human Resources and 3rd in Project Management.
Brittney Housholder of Fargo placed 4th in Advanced Accounting, 6th in Payroll, 6th in Managerial Accounting, 8th in Banking, 2nd in Financial Math, 2nd in Personal Finance and 6th in Business Management.
Kari Larson of Harwood placed 10th in Advanced Accounting, 5th in Payroll, 4th in Advanced Interview, 7th in Contemporary Issues, 4th in Ethics, 3rd in Speech, 5th in Keyboarding Speed, and Membership Recruiter.
Amanda Rueda De Leon of Fargo placed 9th in Managerial Accounting, 8th in Tax, 6th in Financial Math, 5th in Fundamental Spreadsheet and 3rd in Interview.
Christian Dye of Fargo placed 4th in Tax, 7th in Financial Math, 3rd in Advanced Spreadsheet and 9th in Parliamentary Procedures.
