M State singers chosen for National College Honors Choir
Eight members of the Minnesota State Community and Technical College Concert Choir have been chosen by audition for the American Choral Directors National College Honors Choir and will sing in February with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. A total of 3,300 students nationally tried out for the five national honor choirs which will perform Feb. 27 and 28 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Representing M State in the 200-member National College Honors Choir will be Zack Buntrock of Casselton, N.D., Ashley Forsman of Murdock, Jacob Haugen of Henning, Miranda Hubert of Fergus Falls, Jackie Imsande of New York Mills, Eric Ronning of Parkers Prairie, Jacob Seeman of St. Cloud and Mykenzey Watchorn of Frazee. They will be accompanied by M State Concert Choir Conductor Teresa Ashworth. “This is a talented class of musicians with diverse backgrounds in music,” Ashworth said. “It was a pleasure working with them as they prepared for their auditions. I am proud and pleased that they will be representing not only M State but the Minnesota choral music tradition at this national conference.” Members of the National Honors Choir will be working with Christian Grases, conductor from the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music.
