Minnesota State Community and Technical College will “Share a Smile with a Veteran” as it begins providing preventative dental care at no cost for veterans in 2015.
M State will offer the services – including dental exams, cleanings, x-rays, fluoride treatments, sealants and oral hygiene instruction – at the M State Dental Hygiene Clinic operated by the college’s Dental Hygiene program on the Moorhead campus. The same dental services are available to veterans’ immediate family members at reduced costs.
The name and contact information for the M State clinic will be on a list of dental providers given to qualified area veterans by the Veterans Administration. Veterans also may call the M State dental clinic at 218.299.6560 for more information.
“We’re thrilled to support our veterans after they have sacrificed their time, lives and families for us and our country,” said Kris Pladson, director of the M State dental program, which includes both Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting programs.
The Dental Hygiene Clinic is also open to the general public, with Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting students providing preventive dental services under the supervision of licensed dental professionals.
The national “Share a Smile” program offers dental care to veterans for up to two years after they leave the military.
