Mark L. Johnson, an instructor of political science and history at Minnesota State Community and Technical College, has been elected Program Committee chair for a 2015 national political science conference in Washington, D.C.
Johnson, who teaches on M State’s Moorhead campus, is the first community college faculty member to serve as program chair in the 12-year history of the American Political Science Association’s Teaching & Learning Conference.
The APSA conference promotes greater understanding of cutting-edge approaches, techniques and methodologies for the political science classroom. Its theme this year is “Innovations and Expectations for Teaching in the Digital Era.”
The conference, set for Jan. 16-18, provides a forum for scholars to share effective and innovative teaching and learning models and to discuss broad themes and values of political science education.
Johnson served on the Program Committee for the 2014 APSA conference in Philadelphia.
