USAF snowcross team revs up enthusiasm, awards scholarships

AGX_6903Minnesota State Community and Technical College automotive students Ken Bye and Aaron Putz were awarded $200 scholarships during a visit to the Moorhead campus by the U.S. Air Force-sponsored Amsoil snocross racing team in March.

Team members, in the area to compete in a snowmobile race in Glyndon, met with students in the Moorhead automotive programs to explain how they build the racing machines and use technology in their snowmobiles.

Team members also talked with students about engine performance, fuel mapping, GPS tracking and the engineering aspects of racing, and students got an up-close look at the race team’s snowmobiles and trailer.

Bye and Putz were selected as recipients of the snowcross team scholarships by their instructors on the basis of grades, attendance and participation in their programs. Bye is from Moorhead, and Putz is from Twin Valley.
