Minnesota State Community and Technical College’s Business & Entrepreneurial Services congratulates PharmaMed Automation, which was honored as Entrepreneur of the Year during the Hawley Community Awards Banquet on April 12.
PharmaMed, a recent graduate from the Hawley BES Incubator, was recognized for outstanding leadership, success and accomplishment as an entrepreneur in 2013.
PharmaMed owner Dustin Hanson began looking for office space to launch his business ideas in May 2012. Hanson incubated 14 months in the BES incubator before moving to his current location at 112 15th St. South (behind Jimmy’s Pizza). Since he began the business as a one-man operation, he has hired two engineers, one controller, an office administrator and two part-time employees in the course of four months.
PharmaMed offers engineered material handling and packaging automation equipment for medical devices and pharmaceutical companies including conveyer systems, robotic pick-n-place units, product sorting and orienting and other systems that are not available from a standard manufacturer. PharmaMed bridges the gap between standard product offerings of other companies.
Hanson has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and worked for an automation company in Fargo for more than nine years before launching PharmaMed. He and his wife live in Hawley with their four children.
The Hawley incubator is one of two incubators operated by BES to foster new business growth and expand economic development opportunities in the region.
