Description: This supervised instructional experience in the clinical setting introduces the student to tasks performed by the pharmacy technologist.
Prerequisites: PHRM2002
Corequisites: None
  1. Interpret and prepare ambulatory and institutional physician medication orders.
  2. List pharmacy technician and pharmacist's duties.
  3. Prepare IV admixtures using aseptic technique.
  4. Apply drug monograph knowledge.
  5. Apply calculations within the pharmacy field.
  6. Prepare TPN admixtures.
  7. Prepare chemotherapy admixtures.
  8. Incorporate horizontal and vertical air flow hoods in preparing IV, TPN, and Chemotherapy admixtures.
  9. Demonstrate laminar air flow hood cleaning.
  10. Apply the use of pharmacy references.
  11. Prepare unit dose medications.
  12. Demonstrate cart fill procedures.
  13. Explain ordering and receiving of medication inventory and supplies.
  14. Demonstrate knowledge of patient profile documentation.
  15. Apply medication filling systems.
  16. Apply law and ethics within the field of pharmacy.
  17. Perform customer service techniques.
  18. Apply prescription labeling.
  19. Apply IV admixture compatabilities, stability and storage.
