Professional information:
Dr. Sue Wika earned her master's degree in tropical agricultural development from the University of Reading in England and her Ph.D. in sociology from South Dakota State University. In 1994 she joined the staff at M State, where she developed a history of community-based education and service learning in sociology and women's studies and is currently the coordinator of the Sustainable Food Production diploma program. She is certified in permaculture design and is completing coursework and research to become a certified educator in holistic management.

"Students in the Sustainable Food Production program study theory, philosophy and science . . . while obtaining experience in working on and designing farms that showcase elegant solutions predicated on the uniqueness of place. Students learn and practice useful arts and leave M State prepared to be active players in local foodsheds."
