Patricia Ahlschlager joined the M State Nursing faculty in 2005. She brings to the classroom more than 40 years of experience in all areas of hospital nursing including management. Her specialty is advanced intravenous (IV) therapy, and she has experience in home care and critical care and has worked specifically in emergency nursing most recently.

Ahlschlager earned her nursing diploma Rapid City Regional School of Nursing in Rapid City, S.D. She completed her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Metropolitan State College in Denver, and her master’s degree in Nursing Education is from Minnesota State University Moorhead. She has taught nursing in Utah and Minnesota in practical nursing and associate degree schools of nursing.

Her additional writing experience includes curriculum writing in cooperation with a past M State nursing faculty. She is co-author of “Simulation Scenarios for Nursing Education” with Tammy Hale. This text includes both an instructor and student version for the practical and registered nurse framework. She has been involved with the editing of two case study books for Delmar Cengage Learning and written case studies for publication.

She has been married for more than 40 years, and her family and eight grandchildren are the love of her life. Her hobbies are writing music, gardening, canning, sewing and card making.
