The tree dedication ceremonies will each feature a brief talk by M State President Carrie Brimhall along with the local community mayor and a local M State alum. A commemorative tree will be planted outside the main building of each campus, and snacks and beverages will be served. The M State-Detroit Lakes Tree Dedication Ceremony will be held Wednesday, September 27 at noon in the Student Life Commons area (E5 entrance). Detroit Lakes Mayor Matt Brenk will be a featured local speaker, along with Essentia Health Radiology Clinical Educator Coordinator Melissa Watson, who is a 2005 graduate of M State’s Radiologic Technology program. All are welcome. M State came into being in July 2003 upon a vote of approval by the Board of Trustees of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system, which had previously decided to create the new multicampus two-year college by merging three former Northwest Regional Technical College campuses (in Detroit Lakes, Moorhead and Wadena) with the community college in Fergus Falls.
