Student Standard S1

The college officially registers or admits CEP students as degree-seeking, non-degree seeking or non-matriculated students of the college and records courses administered through a CEP on official college transcripts.


M State CEP officially registers and records all concurrent enrollment students on an official college transcript. A letter from M State's Associate Registrar was submitted in the final NACEP application portfolio verifying compliance.

Student Standard S2

The CEP ensures its students meet the course prerequisites of the college.


M State Concurrent Enrollment Program Registration Process

The M State CEP registration process is as follows:

1. High school student applies to M State Concurrent Enrollment Program.

2. Student takes the Accuplacer assessment test, or counselor submits proof of eligible ACT scores.

3. M State's CEP staff sends high school counselor a spreadsheet of eligible and ineligible students.

4. Once the high school has confirmed their CEP courses, a class list - registration form is emailed to the counselor.

5. The high school counselor lists eligible students on the registration form and submits it to M State's Associate Registrar. The Associate Registrar verifies student eligibility and officially registers students in CEP courses.

Class sizes cannot exceed the course cap due to faculty contractual rules that the College must follow. If the number of students exceeds the course cap, another section will be added and the school will be billed accordingly as stated in the M State Concurrent Enrollment Contract.

Implementation of Prerequisites

The College follows a standard curriculum approval process, which includes the determination of any prerequisites, for all courses. This process does not make any special allowances for courses offered through the Concurrent Enrollment Program. Courses that are offered as concurrent enrollment courses are identified from the approved list of courses in the College's curriculum inventory.

The standards all course proposals must meet in order to be approved are the same, independent of delivery mode or delivery location. All course proposals must meet specific standards evaluated by the College's Academic Affairs and Standards Council (AASC), which is the official committee that retains responsibility for reviewing and approving course and program curriculum proposals. Courses that are offered through M State's CEP do not follow a different or less rigorous process with respect to review and approval. "Example Course Outline_ENGL 1101", provides an example of an approved course outline. All course proposals must follow AASC guidelines regarding the information that is required for a course proposal submission, and all proposals follow a specific schedule in terms of when they are reviewed. Prerequisites for every course are available to the public on M State's course outline webpages.

Student Standard S3

The CEP provides students and schools with a comprehensive publication that outlines rights and responsibilities of enrolled college students.


Rights and Responsibilities of M State Concurrent Enrollment Students

Policies and procedures related to the student participation and rights and responsibilities can be found in the M State CEP Handbook beginning on page 8. The high school counselors (liaisons) are the primary and initial point of contact for student advising responsibilities, including prerequisites, eligibility, registration, drop and withdraw, academic progress, grades, transcripts, and course load. M State makes the information and resources available for the high school counselor/liaison to disseminate. This information is also thoroughly reviewed each year at the annual Concurrent Enrollment Day (during the counselor/liason breakout session).

Student Agreement of Understanding

CEP students, teachers and counselors are referred to the "Concurrent Student Agreement of Understanding," which is published online on the CEP Students webpage, and available for download in the student, teacher and counselor subpages online. The agreement of understanding is optional for high school teachers to print and have their students sign.
