Visual Art

M State's Fergus Falls campus offers a 60-credit Associate of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in visual arts that will help you develop your skills as an artist and prepare you for continued study in the arts through a baccalaureate program. Other students use the knowledge and skills gained in the AFA degree program to launch academic and professional careers in a wide array of other fields.

At M State, our commitment to and passion for the arts are on display across the campus. Our visual arts facilities include a ceramic studio, painting and drawing studio, the Waage Fine Arts Gallery and the Charles Beck Gallery.


 

Here’s what you’ll learn

  • A broad knowledge of the scope and variety ofthe work of arts and art movements, along with their socio-political contexts
  • Technical skills in two- and three-dimensional mediums
  • How to document and explain the rationale behind your work
  • How to create a body of work that demonstrates artistic scope and variety
  • An understanding of natural science principles and methods of scientific inquiry
