Camp fast facts
- Camp hours are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Fridays. Attendance is mandatory each day.
- Applicants must be 15-20 years of age when the camp begins.
- Camp registration fee is $250. Financial assistance may be available.
- Space is limited. Applications will be reviewed for acceptance on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Cancellation and Refund Policy: Cancellations made up to two weeks prior to the start of camp are eligible for a full refund. Cancellations made within two weeks of the camp start date are non-refundable.
Experience the trades industry
Each day, campers will get hands-on experience and classroom instruction in a variety of specialty occupations within the residential and commercial construction industry. Work side-by-side with contractors and other industry professionals to learn about occupations, tools, safety requirements and skills required for a rewarding career in the construction trades.
College scholarship opportunities
Eligible campers will be invited to complete the college scholarship application during camp. Scholarship recipients will be announced at camp graduation.

Herdina Camp sponsors include the Herdina Family Fund, M State, the Building Industry Association of the RRV, and Home Builders Care of Fargo Moorhead Foundation.

- Concrete forming and finishing
- Drywall
- Electrical
- Excavation
- Heating, ventilation and air conditioning
- Masonry
- Plumbing
- Print reading and building codes
- Structural steel
Herdina Camp Service Project Request for Proposal
Local businesses, community agencies and nonprofits are invited to submit a proposal. If you have a project need that fits within the scope of this camp, please respond to this RFP to be considered for the next Herdina Camp service project.

We are no longer accepting RFP applications for Herdina Camp 2026. Please check back again to learn about the submission process and deadline for Herdina Camp 2027.
Guidelines
Please note that projects do not need to be an exact match to the listed requirements.
- Purpose: To contract a project that meets the complexity, size, safety and location requirements for facilitating hands-on learning for Herdina Camp attendees (ages 15-20)
- Complexity: Ideally, the project would be a storage building of some sort (e.g. one or two-stall garage, large shed or comparable building). Concrete should be complete prior to the students beginning work. Installation of framing, roofing, siding, soffit/fascia, windows, doors and overhead doors are tasks that the camp is looking for. Other items could be done depending on complexity and time
- Size: Up to the approximate size of a two-stall garage
- Permit: Agency/business is responsible for obtaining proper building permit(s) before construction begins
- Materials: Must be paid for by owner
- Safety: Height of the side wall no taller than 10’ and roof pitch not to exceed 8-12
- Location: Within a 15-minute drive of M State in Moorhead, Minn.
