Dr. Manjusha Saraswathiamma has a doctorate in philosophy in adult education from North Dakota State University, where she has also completed Ph.D.-level coursework in organic chemistry. Before joining M State in 2008 to teach online and campus-based chemistry courses, Saraswathiamma worked as a graduate teaching assistant for general chemistry courses at North Dakota State University. Her graduate-level academic research focused on various aspects of chemistry, including chemical analysis techniques and the attrition of females in engineering. To make undergraduate chemistry courses less petrifying to students, Saraswathiamma says she experiments with different teaching methods and practices. Her goal is to make classes more interesting, meaningful and affordable without compromising on quality. She is a visual artist and has been actively working with regional artists and groups, as well as historical and cultural organizations in the Fargo-Moorhead area.
