Tom Dubbels has a master of science degree in counseling and human development from Minnesota State University Moorhead and a bachelor of science degree in psychology and education from North Dakota State University. He's certified in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Strong Interest Inventory. He has 31 years of experience within higher education and provides career, personal and academic counseling to all M State students, both in-person and online.
Dubbels is a strong believer that education can change a person's life, and he strives to do all he can to help students succeed. He works to reduce barriers and offers a positive and supportive environment so students can become the best versions of themselves. His ultimate goal is to help students move from a career mindset of "having" to go to work to "getting" to go to work.
A big fan of all sports, his favorite teams are the Minnesota Vikings, Twins, Lynx, Timberwolves and Wild. He's also a self-proclaimed "semi-terrible" golfer, but says there's nothing quite like having fun on the golf course with friends who are also semi-terrible. He encourages students to stop by his office and talk sports.
