About this program
The Accounting Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree prepares students for entry-level accounting and business positions. With an emphasis on financial, managerial and intermediate accounting, students gain the ability to record, analyze and interpret financial information in accordance with accounting standards and guidelines. Students develop practical skills in financial reporting and analysis used in various business environments.

- Demonstrate application of a variety of software programs, including integrated accounting software.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the American legal system and how it relates to the world of business.
- Apply accounting theory to service and merchandising organizations.
- Apply managerial accounting principles.
- Calculate payroll, maintain records and prepare reports in compliance with state and federal requirements.
- Apply accounting theory to corporate organizations.
- Apply the Internal Revenue Code as it relates to individual income taxes.
- Demonstrate effective use of technology.
- Prepare financial statements according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Demonstrate the ability to analyze and interpret financial statements.
