M State Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) honor society students Leah Kunde and Nicole Sorby were nominated to the 2026 All‑Minnesota Academic Team and recognized at a luncheon in the Twin Cities area on April 17. They were selected for their academic achievement, leadership, and service to campus and area communities.

Both Kunde and Sorby are students in M State’s registered nursing program. Kunde is actively involved in the M State Nursing Club and serves her community as a local school board member and youth soccer coach. Sorby is highly engaged in Phi Theta Kappa; she recently returned to school after spending many years as a caregiver.

Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society that recognizes the academic achievements of students at associate degree‑granting colleges and helps develop them as scholars and leaders. The society includes more than 1,250 chapters worldwide, including M State’s Omicron Omicron chapter.

Students are nominated for the All‑Minnesota Academic Team through their PTK scholarship application. The All‑Minnesota Academic Team is part of the All‑USA Academic Team program, which honors high‑achieving college students who demonstrate academic excellence along with leadership and service extending beyond the classroom.
