Brian Volkmuth has more than 15 years of experience teaching undergraduate and graduate students in IT and cybersecurity. He has an associate's degree in network administration from St. Cloud Technical and Community College, a bachelor's degree in information assurance from Minnesota State University, and a master's degree in information assurance from St. Cloud State University. Currently pursuing a doctorate degree in business administration, he holds multiple industry certifications.
Volkmuth believes in bridging classroom theory and industry practice through a hands-on, lab-first approach. His teaching philosophy centers on building technical resilience by encouraging students to embrace troubleshooting and problem-solving. He focuses on helping students develop the confidence and adaptability needed to manage and defend modern network and cloud infrastructures.
A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Volkmuth stays busy at home with his large family. He enjoys hands-on projects, problem-solving, music and time with his dogs and chickens.
