Fergus Falls Campus

M State - Fergus Falls has been providing high-quality academic programs in the liberal arts and health services for more than a half century. The Fergus Falls campus offers students the opportunity for a well-rounded college experience that is much like the first two years at any four-year college; the majority of our students transfer to four-year institutions after graduation. We're recognized for our rich tradition in arts, music and athletics, and our strong community support is evident in the annual awarding of more than $100,000 in scholarships through Fergus Area College Foundation. Start here, go anywhere! Here are some of the things that make Fergus Falls a unique place to study:

Academics

M State's Fergus Falls campus has been offering high quality academic programs in the liberal arts and health sciences for more than 50 years. Degree options include:

  • Associate of Arts (AA)
  • Associate of Fine Arts (AFA) in Music, Theatre and Visual Arts
  • Associate of Science (AS) in Biological Sciences, Environmental Science, Business Management, Accounting and Medical Laboratory Technology
  • Associate Degree in Nursing
  • AAS or diploma in Equine Science

Our experienced faculty members teach courses designed to equip graduates with the intellectual skills that are key to succeeding in our global economy. Our alumni include men and women who are accomplished in fields ranging from government to health, education, law, politics and business.

An enthusiasm for lifelong learning is the foundation for a successful career, a satisfying life and a health connection to one's community. This enthusiasm and appreciation for a lifetime of learning are best developed in a supportive academic community that's small enough to touch every student. Fergus Falls is just that sort of place.

Culture and Art

Visitors to the Fergus Falls campus often are amazed by the scope of our extensive art collection. The visual arts are a part of the everyday student experience here because we value aesthetics and want to shape the cultural life of our community through the creative arts.

Fergus Falls is a hub for cultural and arts activities. A Center for the Arts brings musicians and artists from around the world to a performing arts hall in downtown Fergus Falls. These artists come to the college for master classes, lectures and performances on a regular basis. The schedule for events at A Center for the Arts is on its website. Students are always welcome there, both in the audience and as cast members, stage crews and performers.

The Kaddatz Galleries, also in downtown Fergus Falls, features the work of Charles Beck, an art instructor at M State - Fergus Falls for more than 30 years. In addition to the Beck collection, the Kaddatz features rotating shows of work by local artists for both viewing and for sale. The Kaddatz welcomes student interns and volunteers on an on-going basis.

The Otter Tail County Historical Society is just down the hill from the Fergus Falls campus. The museum has a permanent collection of artifacts from the region, an archive available to the public for research and a gallery for traveling shows.

Fergus Falls - A Big Small Town

Fergus Falls is a big small town with many of the same features as a city several times its size. Attractions include golf courses, kayaking, bike paths, water sports-exercise clubs, coffee houses, classic 19th century architecture, book stores, a dance studio, movie theaters, restaurants and a vibrant arts scene.

The natural environment is a main attraction in the area. Fergus Falls is located beneath a major flyway for North American migratory birds. There are more than 1,000 lakes in Otter Tail County, and the beautiful Otter Tail River flows through the center of town. The nearby Prairie Wetlands Learning Center is an environmental education center established by the US Fish and Wildlife Service, and the center's walking trails encourage visitors to enjoy the beauty of the prairie.

As the Otter Tail County seat, there are many government offices and services readily accessible in Fergus Falls. Shopping opportunities range from national chains to boutiques and antiques in the historic downtown. Located just off Interstate 94, the campus is only an hour from Fargo-Moorhead and less than three hours from Minneapolis-St. Paul.
