Description
In this course, students will gain an understanding of the foundational theory of the printing process and be introduced to printing terminology.
Competencies
  1. Define offset, screen print and digital printing processes.
  2. Describe cyan, magenta, yellow and black process printing, spot color and tints.
  3. Describe print separations, registration, dot gain and trapping.
  4. Define lines per inch, dots per inch and pixels per inch.
  5. Describe various printing substrates and production specifications.
  6. Identify possible workflow efficiencies and demonstrate results using modern production practices.
  7. Describe print manufacturing stages, output devices and bindery methods.
  8. Identify different file formats and their appropriateness for various applications.
  9. Produce a variety of finished goods utilizing industry-level standards, equipment and production methods.
