Description: This lab course will focus on advanced nursing skills performed by the professional nurse. Concepts will include advanced medication calculations and nursing care for patients throughout the life span which include peripheral catheters, central catheters, safe administration of blood products, chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition.
Prerequisites: NURS1415 AND NURS2445

Competencies:
  1. Demonstrate care and management of intravenous sites.
  2. Demonstrate management of advanced parenteral therapies.
  3. Calculate advanced medication dosage drip rate.
  4. Perform venipuncture.
  5. Incorporate physiology of fluid and electrolyte balance.
  6. Demonstrate management of blood products.
