CHEM0095 – Essential Chemistry Skills

Description:	This course covers basic chemistry concepts and elementary mathematical and problem-solving skills necessary for success in a first-semester chemistry course. It is strongly encouraged for students who are apprehensive about taking chemistry and are enrolled in CHEM1100 or CHEM1111. Concurrent enrollment with CHEM1100 or CHEM1111 is recommended.

Competencies:	Perform calculations used in chemistry, including metric conversion, temperature conversion, dilutions, ratios, scientific notation, molar mass, dimensional analysis, and reagent calculations (both solvent and solute amounts). Discuss basic chemical formulations and an introduction to the Periodic Table. Investigate the physical properties of compounds. Analyze chemical reaction equations and atom components.
