Description: This course is for intermediate artists interested in developing their own body of work. Students research and examine historical and contemporary art approaches and directions informing their social, historical, philosophical, artistic, etc. choices regarding subject matter. Self-generated subject matter and research, intermediate-level use of composition, color theory and technique are emphasized.

Competencies:
  1. Research and examine historical and contemporary art approaches and directions informing their social, historical, philosophical, artistic, etc. choices regarding subject matter.
  2. Experience and critique (both orally and in writing) other artists' work in a studio, gallery, technological, print or exhibit setting.
  3. Experiment with and analyze a variety of artistic techniques and/or approaches.
  4. Create original artworks.
  5. Use accurate vocabulary of artistic terms when discussing works.
  6. Participate in a respectful, honest and scholarly manner during critiques.
