Description: Meets MnTC Goal Area 6F. This course introduces students to the basic drawing media, techniques and traditions of drawing. Students are exposed to the work of artists, drafters and illustrators and are subsequently guided through a wide variety of drawing experiences and applications.

Competencies:
  1. Experience and critique (both orally and in writing) other artists' work in a studio, gallery, technological, print or exhibit setting.
  2. Create works in a variety of drawing media.
  3. Create works based on direct observation of subject matter.
  4. Analyze and work proficiently with a variety of subject matter.
  5. Demonstrate understanding of how artists apply the art elements and design principals in drawing.
  6. Use studio materials in a safe and responsible manner.
  7. Examine a variety of artist works through books, videos and slides.
  8. Use accurate vocabulary of drawing when discussing works.
  9. Participate in a respectful, honest and scholarly manner during critiques.
