Erica Berg joined the M State faculty as an adjunct faculty member in the fall of 2017, teaching in the Associate Degree RN Advanced Standing program. She was named to the associate director position in January 2018 and began teaching in the Practical Nursing program on the Moorhead campus.

She previously spent 12 years in the inpatient hospital setting locally in Children’s Hospital within the neonatal intensive care and the labor and delivery units and as an operating room circulating nurse. She also served as a public health nurse and school nurse for the city of Fargo with Fargo Cass Public Health and as a visiting maternal/child nurse.

Berg graduated from the Practical Nursing program at Fergus Falls Community College and the Registered Nursing program at Rochester Community & Technical College She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix and her Master’s in Nursing Education from Western Governors University.

Her capstone project addressed the gap between emergency preparedness education/training and the nursing program graduate.

“All educators and field supervisors have indicated there is a need for this education and within nursing programs in the best time to deliver the content, however no one has been able to incorporate the necessary education component. Colleges and universities could really benefit from a curriculum in place that incorporates paramedic, x-ray, law enforcement, nursing and fire service students. When I continue my education further, this would definitely be an area I would love to focus on.”

She and her family enjoy outdoor adventures: spending time at their lake cabin, traveling, water activities and the annual fall hunting competition with her husband to see whose deer is the biggest.
