Sheri Johnson is an instructor of both theatre and communication at Minnesota State Community and Technical College. Before coming to the college in 2010, she was a marketing manager at a children's publishing company in Minneapolis, where she managed the classroom division and also wrote six children's books and provided voiceover narration for product and marketing material.
She worked in Los Angeles and was a teacher and theatre director at Lincoln High School in Sioux Falls, S.D. She has participated in Prairie Repertory Theatre (Brookings, S.D), Bloomington Civic Theatre (Bloomington) and Straw Hat Players (Moorhead). Sheri has been involved in more than 70 productions in various capacities.
Attending South Dakota State University, Sheri earned her Bachelor of Arts degrees in Communication Studies and Theatre and in English. She also earned her Master of Science in Communication (thesis examining Shakespearean films) and Master of Arts in English (thesis exploring Pulitzer Prize-winning graphic novel: Maus). She is a member of several communication and theatre associations and serves as a regional one-act play judge.
Sheri currently teaches courses in public speaking and interpersonal communication. She also teaches theatre courses required for the Theatre AFA: acting, intro to theatre, stage make-up, and design for the stage. She also directs play productions and enjoys traveling with students on M State fine arts trips.
