I have been teaching at M State since 2010. I teach public speaking, interpersonal communication, acting, intro to theatre and stage make-up. I direct play productions and also enjoy traveling with the AFA students on M State fine arts trips. I serve as a judge for regional one-act play competitions and Hennepin Spotlight Theatre.
Before coming to the college, I was a marketing manager at a children's publishing company in Minneapolis. I worked in Los Angeles and was a teacher and director at Lincoln High School in Sioux Falls, S.D. I have participated in Prairie Repertory Theatre (Brookings, S.D), Bloomington Civic Theatre (Bloomington) and Straw Hat Players (Moorhead) and have been involved in more than 50 productions in various capacities.
I attended South Dakota State University in Brookings, where I earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in Communication Studies & Theatre and in English. I also earned a Master of Science in Communication (thesis examining Shakespearean films) and a Master of Arts in English (thesis exploring Pulitzer Prize-winning graphic novel: Maus).
My husband and I have three sons.
